โœ… Playtested โœ“ LP costs verified Stat costs and trainer fees confirmed in-game
โš ๏ธ No respec, no take-backs: The 10 LP you get every level is locked in permanently once spent. There are no respec items in the game. If you discover a mistake at level 20, you can still recover โ€” at level 35, you are basically restarting. Think before you spend.

๐Ÿ“Š Quick Reference: Optimal Investment Priority

If you've already beaten the game once, here is the priority order distilled from multiple playthroughs:

  1. Lockpicking to Professional first, always โ€” 10 LP for 4 mistake tolerance + no lock reset. Undisputed value.
  2. Main weapon training until core moves unlock โ€” One-handed = Scatty for parry, Two-handed = faction trainers.
  3. Push main stat to 30 โ€” 1-30 costs 1 LP/point, spikes after 30. Dump all LP into your main stat before 30.
  4. Maximize healing mechanics โ€” Snaf's 3 daily stews = infinite free healing. Pick every herb, cook all meat.
  5. Wall Climbing โ€” use wherever possible. Many hidden chests are only accessible via climbing routes.

Multi-playthrough tip: Running all three faction pre-quests perfectly in Chapter 1 takes about 8-10 hours. Save a shared save file at the "faction decision point" and just load it for each future playthrough โ€” skip the early grind entirely.

Attribute Overview

Each level grants +12 Health and 10 Learning Points (LP). From levels 1-30, each attribute point costs only 1 LP โ€” cheap. After level 31, LP costs spike sharply. So levels 1-30 are your critical character-defining window.

AttributeEffectCost Lv 1-30After Lv 30
StrengthMelee damage + weapon equip requirements1 LP / pointCost spikes
DexterityBow/crossbow damage, pickpocket success, ranged weapon requirements1 LP / pointCost spikes
ManaSpell pool. Only recovers through sleep โ€” no passive mana regen, no chugging potions to spam spells1 LP / pointCost spikes
HealthAuto +12 per level, cannot be raised with LP directlyAutoAuto

Combat System

The Gothic Remake combat uses four-directional attacks (left, right, up, down). At the start your character is terrible โ€” clumsy swings, two-handed grip on the sword, no parry animation.

Parry must be unlocked through training. Find Scatty at the Old Camp training yard, spend 10 LP + 50 Ore on One-Handed weapons โ€” unlocks the full sword moveset including parry. A well-timed parry negates all damage.

Block only reduces damage, does not fully negate it. Dodge has invincibility frames when timed correctly.

Practice tip: spar with Kirgo near Scatty repeatedly โ€” he's a training NPC who won't kill you.

Healing & Survival

Recommended Build Paths

โš”๏ธ Warrior (Old Camp)

Strength to 30+ โ†’ One-Handed โ†’ heavy armor guard path. Learn parry from Scatty, lockpicking from Fingers. Most stable, highest-tolerance build for early game.

๐Ÿน Archer (New Camp)

Dexterity first to 30+ โ†’ Bow skill โ†’ light armor skirmisher. Train archery with Wolf, kiting is the core playstyle. Can also smuggle swampweed for extra income.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Templar (Swamp Camp)

Strength 20+ foundation โ†’ moderate Mana โ†’ Two-Handed + Psionic hybrid. Train weapons with Gor Na Drak. Psionic spells ignore armor โ€” highly effective in boss fights.

๐Ÿ’ง Water Mage (New Camp)

Early Dexterity to 20 for survival โ†’ transition to Water Magic mid-game โ†’ Circle 6 freezes the entire battlefield. Gets 30 more attribute points than other mage paths.

Leveling Iron Rules

  1. Lock in your direction by level 5. Strength, Dexterity, or Mana โ€” pick one main stat, don't spread evenly.
  2. LP from levels 1-30 is the most valuable. Don't hoard it โ€” spend LP on your core stat immediately.
  3. Master only one weapon type. Leveling both sword and bow means you're mediocre at both.
  4. Regardless of build, get Lockpicking to at least Professional. The 10 LP return on investment is undisputed.
  5. Cook your meat. Raw meat heals less and sells for less. Cooking pots are everywhere in camps.
  6. Practice with Kirgo. After learning parry from Scatty, spar with Kirgo repeatedly to internalize the rhythm.

๐Ÿน Dexterity/Stealth Archer Build (New Camp Recommended)

A pure-Dex glass cannon โ€” kiting from range means you never take damage, but get caught in melee and you're paper. New Camp is the ideal faction for this build.
